Stepping Away From The Seat to Develop Tomorrow's Talent
Car-owner Mike Olsen knew he wanted to enter the car-ownership arena following a successful driving career in the NASCAR Camping World Series. Olsen, however, didn’t have plans to do it until his final start as a full-time competitor at the conclusion of 2007. All that changed when he met the Dumarey family.
One spring day at the beginning of the 2007 season, Olsen got an unexpected visitor at his shop in rural North Haverhill, New Hampshire, and the rest, as they say, is history.
One spring day at the beginning of the 2007 season, Olsen got an unexpected visitor at his shop in rural North Haverhill, New Hampshire, and the rest, as they say, is history.“Max was a driver who knew what he wanted, and after his first start in the East Series, he knew he wanted a change,” explained Olsen. “His father showed up at our shop and liked what he saw: a work ethic that mirrored his. We quickly threw a team together and before I knew it, I was realizing my goals of becoming a car owner.”
It was not a rash decision. Olsen was no stranger to the sport, and was one of the most respected men in the garage area.
Beginning in 1989, Olsen embarked on a career that showed both ups and downs, but truly a lot of success. His biggest accomplishments are the 2006 and 2001 NASCAR Camping World Series Championships.
Under Olsen’s guidance, Dumarey posted a top-10 at Mansfield Motorsports Park and finished 19th in the 2007 NASCAR Camping World Series final point standings despite skipping two of the 13 scheduled races. Dumarey also posted a top-10 finish at Talladega’s 2007 ARCA RE/MAX Series fall event in 2007 under the leadership of Olsen and Fadden Racing.
Fadden Racing again fielded an entry for Dumarey in 2008 running all but one of the events on the Camping World Series East schedule in addition to a limited ARCA campaign and two Camping World Series West races. Dumarey has returned home to his native country of Belgium.
Fadden Racing has begun an intensive search to fill the seat, and encourages drivers from any background to apply.
